  • A few drops of maple syrup.
  • 1 teaspoon of Smoothie Greens.

If you are on a diet, then why not choose a low fat or no fat milk. If you prefer not to drink cow's milk, then use another type of milk such as almond milk, rice milk, oat milk or soy milk.

If you want to add an extra blueberry taste, then simply use blueberry yogurt. If you prefer to just taste the blueberry fruit, then use a plain yogurt. Double the suggested amounts for 2 serves.

Blueberries are good for you because...

Blueberries are one of the fruits with the highest content of anti-oxidants and are rich in Vitamin C. Blueberries are a heart-healthy fruit as they are fibre-rich which helps to lessen levels of 'bad cholesterol' in the blood.

Blueberries are almost a wonder-fruit as they help to maintain the strength of nerves and also help to strengthen one's vision.  Blueberries are rich in several types of plant pigments - plant pigments give plants their colour. Anthocyanin is a water-soluble pigment that gives blueberries their rich purple colour. Anthocyanin greatly assists in maintaining eye health. It comes from two Greek words 'anthos' meaning flower and 'kyneos' meaning purple.

Blueberries are also packed with another plant pigment called flavonoids. Flavonoids are said to strengthen capillaries and are highly effective anti-oxidants. Flavonoid comes from a Latin word 'flavus' meaning yellow.

Try a blueberry smoothie and add health and taste to your diet.
